Assignment 1-3-6 Analysis #5

Harry Potter: Final Analysis
Harry Potter is a number #1 bestseller children’s novel, made for the movies and television and has remained there since its United States debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone novel release in 1999. One of the theories that seemed to best relate to Harry Potter is the Rituals and Stereotype; both of these theories would be applied to the sorting of the hat ritual, in which each new child had to where the hat so the hat can determine which house the student would be able to live in and this ritual is applied to Harry Potter mostly because of the magic of it, but the stereotype that may come with it may be reason for concern for children.
The most interesting finding from my research of Harry Potter is the popularity. As a person who has never read or watched Harry Potter, it was fun getting to know him and all the characters associated with the Harry Potter series. Another thing that was interesting is that Harry Potter dies in the last book; he died a hero, but I never thought that would end such a popular, moneymaking series with the main character in a children’s book dying in the end. I mean, does this mean the end of Harry Potter? Would the writer bring him back some kind of way with a new series? That would be interesting to see how it would be done, if it happens.
Based on my analysis, I would definitely think differently about Harry Potter. In the beginning I was never really interested in any children’s books; Harry Potter is known for series of books, television and movies and I have never given it a second thought. But now after doing research into the different book and going over the plots and/or storyline, it has definitely been put on the reading list, at least the first book. I asked my 12 year old son, how come he never got into Harry Potter reading because he love loves to read as I do; he says, “I’m just not into witches and wizards”. Well that goes to show you that everything is not for everybody; but it really is a great series for children; Thumbs up to the author, J.K.Rowling and her dedication to making the Harry Potter series readings more interesting with each new book. In a CNN review the writer states that, “when it comes to creating  larger-than-life characters, J.K. Rowling excelled, and the Harry Potter actors must love her” (CNN, 2011, July 14).
